Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) has published its December 2025 update to standards and guidelines, introducing 7 new documents and updating 10 existing ones. These updates strengthen design quality, environmental compliance, and delivery consistency across Ireland’s transport projects. Key Highlights

 Structures:

  • New standard on Aesthetics of Road Structures aiming to ensure aesthetics are appropriately considered throughout all phases of the life cycle of a project.
  • Technical Acceptance of Road Structures now includes electricity pylons and has also been updated to align with the phases and deliverables as defined in the Project Management Guidelines.

 Standard Construction Details:

  • Gantry Groups 8, 9, and 10 revised for greater consistency and reliability, reducing design variability.

 Environment:

  • Biodiversity Metric documents published, paving the way for a Biodiversity Impact Assessment Standard in 2026.
  • Air quality standards updated to meet EU Ambient Air Quality Directive (2024/2881).
  • New Water Impact Assessment standards replace outdated hydrology guidance.

 Pricing Guidance:

  • Greenway Schedule of Rates 2025 introduced to support accurate cost planning.
